Default 32-bit microcontroller and 40-bit values

Hi, I'm using a 32-bit microcontroller (PIC32MZ) and device pairing with me send me a 40-bit value on the SPI in a series of 5 bytes. How can I use the 40-bit value, for example, to perform arithmetic operations such as multiply or divide it with another 40-bit value? thanks in advance

Use 64 bit variables? Shift the bits into 64bit variables and then do the math with them.
