Elmos: Antenna protection in the smallest of spaces

Elmos E522.40

E522.40 for dual phantom supply with I2C interface

With the E522.40 IC, Elmos is presenting a dual antenna protection IC in a very compact package. The semiconductor affords protection of the antenna system against ESD, short to ground and battery, and against overheating of the IC. The I2C interface allows addressing of several devices with only two interface lines. And the IC is shipped in a compact QFN20L5 package.

The chip can be used in antenna applications with input voltages from 4.5 V to 25 V. Two independent output voltages from 3.3 V to VBat can be programmed using external voltage dividers.

Despite its small size, the semiconductor features comprehensive diagnostics functions. Thanks to the I2C interface in combination with the 8-bit ADC, real-time monitoring of the output voltages and currents can be implemented. Over and under voltage levels can be programmed separately for each output and, if applicable, shut down automatically.

An additional analogue sensor at the input can be used in combination with a programmable digital output to monitor a third phantom supply circuit or additional functions.
