Holtek is delighted to announce its new 8-bit A/D type TinyPower MCU device range, the HT56R2x series. Using Holtek’s unique TinyPower technology, the special characteristics of this new device series lie in their low power consumption, fast wake-up, multiple clock sources and various operating modes that greatly reduce power requirements to meet the demands of today’s environmentally conscious products. The device range is suitable for application areas such as household appliances, instrumentation, industrial control and exercise equipment etc.

Holtek HT56R2x

The HT56R2x series is composed of five MCU devices encompassing a full range of multiple functions. Among these are a specification which includes a core with an OTP Program Memory capacity of 2K~32K, a RAM Data Memory capacity of 128~2304 bytes and 6~12 stack levels. Regarding peripheral functions, all devices include an 8-channel 12-bit high speed Analog to Digital converter which can measure external environmental signals from sensors such as temperature, humidity etc. An internal 3 to 4-channel 12-bit Pulse Width Modulator function is also included which can be used for motor control operation. As for I/O pins, 22~50 I/O lines are provided which can be used to interface to external switches and other peripheral components. A DAC function is also included, which when used together with the integrated SPI interface, can interface to an external Voice Memory to implement voice functions. Additionally, the inclusion of a dual SPI/I2C serial interface function, an internal Programmable Frequency Divider and a range of two to four 8-bit and 16-bit internal timers, give this new range of devices an exceptionally comprehensive range of features to meet the needs of a huge range of microcontroller based applications.

Holtek also fully supports these devices with its comprehensive hardware and software development tools. Known as the HT-IDE300, these development tools provide features such as real time emulation, memory and register read functions, hardware breakpoints complete with logical setups, full trace facilities etc. All these development tool features combine to ensure that designers have a full suite of tools at hand to provide for rapid and efficient design and debug of their microcontroller based new product applications.
