Infineon have released BTS3800SL, the world's smallest protected automotive relay driver. BTS3800SL comprises a HITFET™ switch in a SCT595 package. It offers latching, short-circuit and thermal protection in a simple three-pin device, simplifying design requirements and reducing protection circuitry around the part.
BTS3800SL is designed to drive relays up to 375mA load current and is equipped with standard HITFET™ protection features. It is the first Infineon HITFET™ to come in the proven, robust SCT595 package with linked leads for increased thermal cooling on the pins. With a total area of just 7.25mm2, SCT595 is 84% smaller than SOT223 (which has a 45.5mm2 footprint on the PCB).
