Full XO Functionality in 0.5mm-thin 1612 Footprint Eliminates External Components for Mobile, Video, and Audio Applications
Discera, Inc. announced the production availability of the world's smallest and thinnest oscillator for mobile, video, and audio applications. The DSC3001 PureSilicon oscillator is available in frequencies up to 150 MHz and temperature ranges up to 105 degrees Celsius with shock resistance up to 30,000 G. The DSC3001 is the smallest and thinnest oscillator based on any technology to enter production, and leads a new generation of ultra-miniature, low power products from Discera.

The DSC3001 series of oscillators is available in both low power and high precision configurations that consume as little as 3mA of power and deliver higher frequency stability over wider temperature ranges for better performance than other crystal or silicon based products. By eliminating the need for mechanically-based quartz crystals, Discera's Silicon MEMS oscillators deliver 20 times better reliability and accelerate product development with shorter lead times.
The DSC3001 can be used in any design as a smaller, lower power substitute for a crystal oscillator (XO). It provides the timing function required by all electronic circuits. Key features include:
