International Rectifier (IR) Compact Fluorescent Lamp Control Chip Name EDN "Hot 100" Product of 2004

International Rectifier IR2520D

January 14, 2005 -
International Rectifier (IR) announced that their innovative power management IC for energy-efficient compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) has been selected as one of EDN magazine's "Hot 100" products for 2004. The IR2520D was one of only six analog ICs selected for the Hot 100.

The CFL control IC can adapt to changing supply voltage, frequency and lamp conditions to increase lamp life and reliability. The CFL chip includes a circuit that maintains soft switching, regardless of supply voltage, frequency and lamp conditions. At the heart of this IC is a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) with an externally programmable minimum frequency.
