Silent relay for the home automation marketTo address growing demand in the home automation market, Omron has introduced a quiet version of its popular G5RL power relay, aimed specifically at applications ranging from panel heaters to video games, where ambient sound levels need to be kept to a minimum.
The G5RL-LN creates a sound pressure level (SPL) of typically just 45 dB at a distance of 15 cm, when switching – almost inaudible.
Omron’s new ‘silent’ relay conforms to an industry standard footprint of G2R/G2RL. Offered in a SPST-NO form, the relay is just 15.7 mm high, and can switch up to 12 A at 250 V. A high capacity version can handle up to 16 A. Coil power consumption is 530 mW, and coil voltage can be 5, 12 or 24 V DC.
Also recently introduced is the G5RL-HR – a relay specifically designed for loads such as fluorescent tubes or incandescent lamps characterised by high inrush currents. Packaged in the standard G5RL case, this device can handle currents of up to 100 A.
G5RL relays are fully RoHS compliant with gold alloy contacts for longer life expectancy and high contact reliability. They conform to applicable EN, UL and CSA standards.
