LOW-NOISE, LOW-DROPOUT, 120mA LINEAR REGULATORS FIT IN AN SC70 PACKAGE WITHOUT COMPROMISING PERFORMANCE

Maxim

SUNNYVALE, CA-March 7, 2003- Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX8510/MAX8511/MAX8512 low-noise, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators in 5-pin SC70 packages. With up to 78dB PSRR, 11µVRMS output noise and up to 120mA of output current, these devices are the smallest, highest performing LDOs on the market. Requiring only a 1µF output capacitor, the MAX8510/MAX8511/MAX8512 solution is 41% smaller than competing SOT23 solutions without compromising performance. These devices are ideal for noise-sensitive and space-constrained applications including cellular phones, PDAs, and wireless LANs.

The MAX8510/MAX8511 have preset output voltages between 1.5V and 4.5V. The MAX8512 is fully adjustable with two resistors. The MAX8511 does not use the bypass capacitor and still maintains 230µVRMS output noise and 72dB PSRR. The input voltage range for all three devices is 2V to 6V. The MAX8510/MAX8511/MAX8512 feature 120mV of dropout at 120mA load with 40µA of quiescent current. Shutdown current of less than 1µA maximizes battery life in portable applications.

The MAX8510/MAX8511/MAX8512 are screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). Prices start at $0.51 (1000-up, FOB USA).
