Further expanding its range of 8-bit TinyPowerTM A/D with LCD devices, Holtek is now pleased to announce a new release, the HT56R688. In using Holtek’s unique TinyPowerTM technology, this new MCUs provides the features of ultra low power, fast wake-up, a range of clock sources as well as multiple operating modes etc. With these encompassed features this new device greatly reduces power consumption to meet the demands of today’s environmentally conscious products. The device will find excellent use in application areas such as instrumentation, water and gas metering products, household appliances, exercise equipment displays, intelligent card readers to name but a few application areas.
The HT56R688 encompasses a full range of many different functions. Among these are a specification which includes a core with an OTP Program Memory capacity of 48K words, a RAM Data Memory capacity of 2304 bytes and 12 stack levels. With regard to peripheral functions, the device includes an 8 channel 12-bit high speed Analog to Digital converter which can measure external environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity etc. An internal 4 channel 12-bit Pulse Width Modulator function is also included which can be used for motor control operation and 24 I/O lines are provided which can be used to interface to external switches and other peripheral components. Additionally, the device can interface and drive up to 1024 pixel Liquid Crystal Displays. The inclusion of a dual SPI/I2C serial interface function, an internal Programmable Frequency Divider, three 8-bit and one 16-bit internal timer, gives this device an exceptionally comprehensive range of features to allow the easy implementation of complete microcontroller systems.
