Embedded tool manufacturer Mikroelektroniika has released two new development boards for the Atmel ATxmega, an especially powerful member of the popular AVR microcontroller family. Both boards are suitable for developing new designs and applications based on this attractive IC.
The first board, called the ‘XMEGA-Ready Board’, is a prototyping board with an ATxmega128A1 MCU and an 8-MHz oscillator, along with JTAG and AVR ISP ports for device programming. The board also features an FT232R USB to serial interface IC for connecting the board to a PC USB port or external USB devices. All MCU pins are accessible via solder pads. This board is suitable for evaluation of the ATxmega and for the design of prototype devices.
The second board, called the ‘mikroXMEGA-Board’, is the little brother of the XMEGA-Ready board. It provides the same microcontroller as well as USB support in an especially compact form factor.
