Fairchild Semiconductor's new QTLP603C-EB blue LED offers designers performance and size benefits required by increasingly stringent portable application designs. The QTLP603C-EB's low profile (1.6mm by 0.8mm footprint and 0.35mm height) reduces package thickness by 42% over previous industry standard LED packaging. Power consumption is reduced through the product's 3.15V maximum @ 5mA performance, thereby enabling longer battery life. This product is ideal for backlighting keypads and pushbuttons in the latest cell phone, PDA, and compact, portable product designs.
The QTLP603C-EB does not require auxiliary drive circuitry and uses the latest LED technology to produce typical luminous intensity (20.0 to 25.0 mcd @ 5mA), water clear optics, and moisture-proof packaging. Consistent color and brightness is a result of its wide 120° viewing angle and narrow voltage range (2.75 to 3.15 V). It is available on a 7-inch (178 mm) diameter reel, with 2,000 units per reel. This lead-free (Pb-free) product meets or exceeds the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B and is compliant with the European Union requirements, which will take effect in 2005.
This blue LED adds to Fairchild's portfolio of products targeting portable applications. These products include audio amplifiers and bus switches, supervisory products, such as temperature sensors and reset generator circuits, and DC/DC conversion products, such as LDOs, DC/DC converters, and MOSFETs.
