While maintaining ±3dB log conformance at 25°C, the MAX2015 provides dynamic ranges of 75dB, 65dB, and 45dB for 900MHz, 1900MHz and 2500MHz, respectively. The key to the MAX2015's success is, however, its superior precision over temperature and supply. At 900MHz, this device delivers 55dB of dynamic range with ±1dB of precision over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Measurements at 1900MHz and 2500MHz are equally impressive with dynamic ranges of 46dB and 38dB, respectively, under the same precision and temperature constraints. Offering ±0.25dB precision over VCC ± 15%, it is also virtually unaffected by voltage-supply variations. These precision levels significantly enhance the accuracy of an RF power measurement.
In most instances, the ±1dB precision over temperature will provide ample margin in detector accuracy. However, other applications may seek even greater levels of accuracy through use of temperature-based lookup tables. In these cases, the MAX2015 delivers unparalleled performance compared with other competitive offerings due to its tight part-to-part variances and consistent error curves over -40°C to +85°C.
The MAX2015 is available in a space-saving, 8-pin µMAX package, making it ideal as a drop-in replacement for the AD8313 log amp. Prices start at $6.35 (1000-up, FOB USA).
