Designed by Infineon TLE8080EM is an engine management system IC which includes basic functionality to enable state-of-the-art electronic fuel injection (EFI) in one-cylinder combustion engines.
The 5V voltage regulator provides up to 250mA current and features undervoltage reset, power-on reset and watchdogfunctionality. It also includes overload, short circuit and overtemperature protection. The K-line output and all power stages can be disabled using an active reset signal, ensuring that subsequent SPI commands are ignored.
The K-line transceiver is a serial link bus interface that uses the special ISO K-line to provide bi-directional, half-duplex communication interfacing. It meets the ISO standard 9141. The K-line bus output is protected against bus shorts and overtemperature. Five low-side channels are optimized for use in engine management systems.
Recommended loads include two channels for injector valves or similar sized solenoids, one channel for lamps or LEDs and two channels for relays. The Variable Reluctance Sensor (VRS) interface converts an output signal from a VRS to 5V logic level compatible with the 5V input ports of a microcontroller. The diagnosis and control interface is based on a serial peripheral interface (SPI). This SPI is a 16bit, full duplex synchronous serial slave interface.
