New iBB Product Family for Crankshaft and Transmission Speed Sensing - TLE4924CB, TLE4927CB and TLE4957CB

Infineon TLE4924CB TLE4927CB

Infineon has released two new package variants of its successful, market-proven differential Hall sensor family (with the TLE4924C and TLE4927C devices) for crankshaft applications. The new variants – the TLE4924CB and TLE4927CB – feature the same tried-and-tested integrated Back Bias (iBB) NdFeB magnet as the existing devices. The devices work by magnetically sensing an encoder fixed on the crankshaft axle.

In the case of magnetic pole wheels, the magnetic field can be read directly by the sensor so no additional equipment is required for sensing purposes. However, ferromagnetic target wheels (such as steel gear wheels) require an additional magnet field. This is generated by a magnet that is attached to the sensor during module assembly – often at the customer site.

To deliver optimal performance, the magnet has to be precisely mounted in line with design requirements. This can be a costly, challenging process – especially for less experienced module suppliers or newcomers to engine speed sensing. With their integrated Back Bias (iBB) packages, the TLE4924CB and TLE4927CB meet these challenges, combining ease of use with improved performance thanks to highly precise magnet mounting.
