Industry's First Triple/Quad 2:1 MUX Amps With Integrated Input Clamps

Maxim MAX4028 MAX4029

April 9, 2004- Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX4028/MAX4029 triple/quad 2:1 mux amps (video switches plus video amplifier) with integrated input clamps, designed for automotive navigation and entertainment, video projectors, and TV/display applications. Operating from a single 5V supply, these devices exhibit a 130MHz large-signal (2VP-P) -3dB bandwidth and a 30MHz large-signal (2VP-P) 0.1dB bandwidth, making them ideal for HDTV and progressive-scan video inputs. The 6dB-gain output buffers directly drive 150 video output loads.

The MAX4028/MAX4029 feature user-selectable input sync-tip and key clamps for selecting from different video formats. This simplifies signal-source selection and eliminates up 48 discrete components. Fast 20ns switching times make these devices ideal for inserting On-Screen Display (OSD) information, while a high-impedance, output-disable mode supports multiple devices for larger systems.

The MAX4028/MAX4029 operate over the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C) and are available in 16-pin and 20-pin TSSOP and SO packages. Prices for the MAX4028 start at $2.00 (1000-up, FOB USA).
