Diodes Incorporated introduced the AP7350. This low dropout voltage regulator (LDO) is available with output voltages from 1.2 V to 3.3 V, supporting load currents up to 150 mA. The AP7350 targets low-power, handheld and wearable device applications. Its ultra-low quiescent current of just 0.25 μA and 1% accuracy enable designs to achieve extended battery life while a chip scale package just 0.64 mm square occupies the smallest possible board space.
The design of the AP7350 LDO recognizes two of the key requirements inherent in the multitude of new sensing applications that are contributing to growth of the Internet of Things (IoT). These are the need for low power consumption, since many devices will be battery-powered, and small size, to fit the often-constrained form factor designs typified by wearable devices. With a quiescent current of 0.25 μA and a typical standby current of 20 nA the AP7350 LDO enables low sampling rate system designs that can operate for years on a single coin cell battery. The miniature chip-scale package is between a quarter and half the size of competitive solutions, and has a low profile of just 0.34 mm.
The AP7350 is offered with seven output voltages: 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V 2.5 V, 2.8 V, 3.0 V, and 3.3 V. These address the voltage rail requirements of microcontroller, FPGA, other digital and analog ICs, and sensor circuits commonly found in low-power IoT applications. Output accuracy is 1% at room temperature and 1.5% over the full –40 °C to +85 °C operating temperature range.
