ON Semiconductor has won the Product of the Year Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Award in the power category for its NCP1337 controller in China from EE Times China.
The NCP1337 is an enhanced pulse width modulation (PWM) current-mode controller that utilizes ON Semiconductor’s proprietary technologies including soxyless valley switching and soft skip to ease the design of free running quasi-resonant power supplies. It is the enabling device for ON Semiconductor’s GreenPoint™ reference design for 60 watt (W) power adapters used to power LCD TVs and monitors, notebooks and other consumer products, delivering 88 percent efficiency and consuming less than 250 milliwatts (mW) of power in standby mode. The controller combines a true current-mode modulator and a demagnetization detector that ensures full borderline/critical conduction mode in any load/line. The NCP1337 also eliminates the need for an external signal, by providing internal transformer core reset detection. Frequency is internally limited to 130 kilohertz (kHz) to facilitate the compliance with EMI conducted emission standards, the lowest limit being 150 kHz.
ON Semiconductor is devoted to the development of new technology to offer customers with higher efficiency solutions. ON Semiconductor’s innovation aims to increase the functionality in smaller footprint. This means engineers will be able to build a more effective turnkey solution that shortens the design cycle to help companies meet fast market demands.
About ACE Awards
