IXYS Integrated Circuits Division Introduces a New, Low Cost, Dual 5A Gate Driver IC

The IX4340 is capable of driving most IXYS Power MOSFETs and IGBTs

IXYS Integrated Circuits Division, a wholly owned subsidiary of IXYS Corporation, announces the immediate availability of the IX4340 low-cost Dual 5 A Gate Driver IC. The IX4340 features two high current outputs, both capable of sourcing and sinking up to 5 A. Both outputs have an absolute maximum voltage rating of 20 V. With matched propagation delays, the identical output drivers can be connected in parallel for higher current applications. The logic inputs are TTL and CMOS logic compatible, and there is an Enable function for each output. Under voltage lockout circuitry prevents the high side source driver from conducting until there is sufficient supply voltage.

IXYS - IX4340

Fast propagation delay times (16 ns typical) and fast rise and fall times (7 ns typical) make the IX4340 well suited for high frequency applications. The gate driver has an extended operating temperature range of –40 °C to +125 °C, and has a ±4 kV ESD rating (human body model). The IX4340 is supplied in a thermally enhanced 8-lead SOIC package (IX4340NE) and a standard 8-lead SOIC package (IX4340N).

The low cost IX4340 is well suited for driving power MOSFETs and IGBTs in high power SMPS applications, power inverters, DC to DC converters, and motor controls. The IX4340 is the latest addition to IXYS ICD’s extensive gate driver portfolio. For even higher gate drive requirements, IXYS ICD offers 14 A (IXD_614 series) and 30 A (IXD_630 series) gate driver ICs.
