Molex has launched two new products in its NSCC (New Standard Casing Contact) range. The female Wire-to-Board Connector 98438 is a 6-way receptacle connector, and has been designed based on the firm’s existing NSCC/SICMA series 98172. It features two lateral bridges as an additional protection for the locking latch. Secondly, there is the NSCC Hybrid Inline Male Housing, a 16-way inline connector that is a drop-in replacement for inline connections and for connections to junction boxes and ECUs (Electronic Control Units).
The receptacle Wire-to-Board connector receives up to six 2.8mm SICMA terminals from FCI or 2.8mm UCC terminals from Molex giving the terminal system a very high market acceptance. For example, one potential use is for an electric window of a vehicle. Finally, the NSCC receptacle W-to-B connector 98438 offers a dual row 5.00 x 5.00 mm pitch.
Suited to automotive applications, the male plug connectors arrive unsealed and can receive up to 12 NSCC 1.5mm terminals and 4 NSCC 2.8mm SICMA compatible terminals. The connectors are also offered with secondary locking for the 1.5 and 2.8mm SICMA terminals, offering a high retention force.
The 16-way Hybrid Inline connector family provides both male and female connector housings with pre-assembled TPA (Terminal Position Assurance - a user friendly feature that saves time during the assembly process). The plug connector offers a clip feature for a standard fir-tree clip, while the receptacle connector is equipped with a slide as a mating assistant as well as a CPA.
