With many years of design and marketing experience in the Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD)device area, Holtek is well experienced in the area of high voltage process and design techniques. These devices provide VFD solutions for applications in the areas of home appliances, consumer products, car peripherals etc. In addition to availability in standard package types, Holtek also has the ability to provide CIG types. Holtek’s standard VFD devices,by their display methods and functions, can be subdivided into their segment display number, character display type, digital clock display etc. The alphanumeric display type contains an on-chip character ROM and high voltage driving circuit controller/driver and has the new part number of HT16528 released in 2010. Additionally, the other related new devices which have a lower number of pixels, the HT16525 and HT16523, will be released in the near future.
The HT16528 is a 5x8 dot on chip character type VFD controller/driver IC with a logic voltage of 2.7~5.5V, maximal operating voltage of 80V and which supports M68 and I80 parallel data input/output, 3-line serial data input/output, and on-chip 240 characters plus 8 user-defined characters. Consisting of 80-segment and 24-grid output lines, the display mode can be setup as 16 columns x 2(1) rows + 32(16) cursors, 20 columns x 2(1) rows + 40(20) cursors and 24 columns x 2(1) rows + 48(24) cursors.

The HT16528 is supplied in a 144-pin LQFP package and which according to the customers different character requirements are supplied in three types, namely the HT16528-001, HT16528-002, and HT16528-003. Specific characters can also be supplied by customers.
