International Rectifier introduces the IRU1011-33, a fixed output linear voltage regulator capable of providing a low drop-out voltage and can provide a continuous current up to 1.3A with a single 5V input. The device is stable with low-value, low-cost ceramic capacitors, enabling compact designs at lower cost and lower noise compared with circuits using tantalum capacitors. Applications for the new LDOs include power management for hard disk drives and ADSL and cable modems.
The IRU1011-33 is specifically designed to meet current transient response up to 1.3A per microsecond and provides an initial voltage reference with 2% accuracy. The new LDO includes built-in output current limiting and internal thermal shutdown.
