ICB2FL03G: New, Fully Integrated Control IC for Fluorescent Lamp Ballasts in Slim SO-16 Package

Infineon ICB2FL03G

The new ICB2FL03G device comes in a slim SO-16 package and is the latest addition to Infineon's smart ballast controller family. It is designed to optimize cost/performance in applications that operate serial connected FL/CFL lamps. The the ICB2FL03G's performance and feature set is similar to that of Infineon's well-established ICB2FL01G in a SO-19 package: All functions required to operate fluorescent lamps are integrated, including protection features and preheat, ignition and run modes.

Infineon's proprietary coreless transformer technology (CLT) ensures reliable, robust high voltage isolation.

  • Integrated high-performance critical conduction mode PFC stage with very low total harmonic distortion (THD)
  • Integrated high-voltage level shift half-bridge driver using coreless transformer technology (CLT)
  • Built-in monitoring and protection features for highest reliability (surge, inverter/PFC overcurrent, bus over-/undervoltage, EOL1 overload, EOL2 rectifier effect, emergency detection in line with VDE0108)
  • Adjustable end-of-life detection in multi-lamp topologies and detection of capacitive mode operation
  • Excellent ignition control for operation close to the magnetic saturation of lamp chokes
  • Support for customer in-circuit test mode for shorter test times
