CSR is proud to announce the listing of its first Bluetooth® 4.1 qualified solutions for its Bluetooth dual mode and Bluetooth single mode devices. Bluetooth 4.1, which was announced last week by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, is set to greatly improve the flexibility of classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth Smart communications. It will allow developers to design ever more attractive, secure and functional wearables and wireless sensors which can communicate with one another, as well as with multiple Bluetooth hubs at the same time.
CSR will implement all of the important enhancements introduced in the Bluetooth 4.1 specification in its upcoming connectivity platforms, from single mode low energy and wireless audio platforms through to discrete connectivity products. This will allow developers to employ the latest Bluetooth capabilities in their devices and expand their offerings to new markets.
Some examples of what Bluetooth 4.1 can enable include:
- Introducing AES encryption to deliver more secure connections. This feature allows wireless headsets to target new markets such as governmental, medical and banking applications where strong security is paramount; and
- Enabling headsets, speakers and soundbars to be controlled by a dedicated Bluetooth Smart remote control, or mobile app, whilst concurrently streaming audio from a completely different device
