Energy efficiency is becoming one of the most important success factors in electric system designs – especially in systems with currents of up to 10 A. Infineon's new IFX81481ELV is a synchronous DC/DC buck controller which meets the need for minimal power dissipation in applications such as automation, building management, medical systems or electric drives. Operating at input voltages from 4.75 V to 45 V, it is also suited to general purpose combinations of DC/DC and linear voltage regulators in pre-/post-regulation configuration.
Output voltage at the external power transistor is adjustable down to 1.2 V with a tolerance level of +/- 2%. Very low drop out operation is ensured by a maximum duty cycle of more than 99%. The adjustable switching frequency in the range of 100 kHz to 700 kHz may be synchronized with an external clock.
The IFX81481ELV is available in a small SSOP-14 exposed-pad package (RoHS-compliant).
