Low-power translator solution now addresses standard logic shift register market

Nexperia, the former Standard Products division of NXP, announced that it is expanding its logic portfolio – already the largest in the industry – with new devices that expand the company‘s translator solutions into the standard logic shift register arena.

The first translator solution in the expanded range, 74LVC8T595 is a world’s first: a cascadable 8-bit serial-in, parallel-out I/O expansion device that combines shift register function with voltage translation. This single-chip solution replaces two devices, delivering higher levels of integration and a smaller footprint. It operates in the 1.1 to 5.5 V range, enabling newer low-voltage controllers to interface with legacy solutions.

74LVC8T595 benefits from Nexperia’s LVC family technology with IOFF circuitry for partial power down-mode operation, which contributes to energy savings. The device is available in 20-pin leaded TSSOP and leadless DQFN packages. Both packages are specified for –40 °C to +125 °C and can be released in the company’s Automotive (-Q100) portfolio.

Nexperia already markets the lowest power 5 V, 3.3 V and 1.8 translator solutions and it is bringing this capability to its new standard logic voltage translating shift register products.
